General questions
What is a low voltage contractor?+
A low voltage contractor installs and services the cabling and systems that run under 50 volts — network cabling, security cameras, access control, intercom, and audio/visual. Security Linc LLC is a Wisconsin-formed low voltage contractor based in Kenosha.
Which areas do you cover?+
Southeast Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, including Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, Racine, Mount Pleasant, Milwaukee, Gurnee and Waukegan. Each service page lists exactly which areas that service is dispatched to.
How quickly can you come out?+
Most service calls in the Kenosha and Pleasant Prairie area are scheduled within 24–48 hours. Emergency and after-hours support is available by phone at (262) 555-0192.
Do you work with businesses, homes, or both?+
Both. We handle commercial fit-outs, warehouses, clinics and multi-tenant buildings, as well as residential network, camera and smart AV installations.
How does pricing work?+
Every service page publishes typical pricing ranges so you can budget before you call. Final pricing is confirmed in a written estimate after a site walk or a detailed quote request.
Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes. Security Linc LLC is a licensed and insured Wisconsin LLC operating in the construction / low voltage category, and we provide certificates of insurance on request.
Do you offer maintenance after the install?+
Yes. Our repair and maintenance service covers troubleshooting, firmware updates, camera cleaning, cable re-terminations and scheduled preventative visits.
Where is your office?+
Our office is at 3207 Market Lane #709, Kenosha, WI 53144. Map and turn-by-turn directions are on our directions page.
Structured Cabling
Service details & pricing →Cat6 or Cat6a — which do I need?+
Cat6 handles 1Gb everywhere and 10Gb up to about 55 meters, which covers most offices. Choose Cat6a for long runs, high-power PoE cameras, dense Wi-Fi 6E/7 access points or if you want the cabling to outlive two hardware refreshes.
Do you certify the cabling?+
Yes. Every drop is tested and you receive a certification report per port before we invoice. That report is often required by insurers and enterprise IT departments.
Can you work around our business hours?+
Yes. Evening and weekend installs are common for occupied offices, retail and clinics. We schedule it in the quote so there is no overtime surprise.
How long does a typical office take?+
A 25-drop office is usually 2-3 days including rack build-out and certification. Larger warehouse or multi-floor jobs are phased so you never lose the whole network at once.
Security Cameras & Surveillance
Service details & pricing →How many days of footage will I keep?+
We size storage to your requirement. 30 days is the common default; 60-90 days is typical for cannabis, firearms, childcare and insurance-driven policies.
Can I view cameras on my phone?+
Yes, on iOS and Android plus any browser. We set up accounts with per-user permissions so staff can view only what they should.
Do the cameras record audio?+
Some models can. Wisconsin is a one-party consent state, but workplace audio recording has extra rules, so we default audio off and enable it only where you confirm it is appropriate.
Will this work with my existing cameras?+
Often yes. If they are ONVIF-compliant we can bring them onto the new recorder. Old analog cameras can be kept on an encoder or swapped over the existing coax.
Access Control
Service details & pricing →What happens if the power goes out?+
Every panel we install has battery backup, typically 4-8 hours. Door hardware is specified fail-safe or fail-secure based on that opening's fire and security requirements.
Can I use phones instead of cards?+
Yes. Mobile credentials are issued by email and work over Bluetooth or NFC. Most clients run a mix — phones for staff, cards for contractors and visitors.
Does it integrate with my cameras?+
On supported platforms yes: a badge event pulls up the matching video clip, so you can see who actually walked through the door.
Is it code compliant?+
We wire free egress and tie controlled doors into the fire alarm so they release on alarm, which is required by Wisconsin commercial building code.
Smart AV Solutions
Service details & pricing →Will the room work with Teams and Zoom?+
Yes. We standardize on hardware certified for the platforms you use, and rooms can run bring-your-own-device mode for guests.
Can you hide all the wiring?+
In finished spaces we fish cable in-wall using rated products. Where a wall cannot be opened, we use low-profile raceway painted to match.
Who updates the signage content?+
You do — we set up the scheduling portal and train your team. We can also manage content on a monthly service agreement.
Do you service other people's installs?+
Yes. We regularly take over rooms that were never finished properly, document what is there and quote what it takes to make it reliable.
Repair & Maintenance
Service details & pricing →How fast can you get on site?+
Standard response in Kenosha and Racine counties is 24-48 hours. Service agreement clients get same or next business day, with emergency dispatch available.
Will you service equipment you did not install?+
Yes, that is a large share of our work. We document what is there first so you know exactly what you own before spending on repairs.
Do you charge for the diagnosis?+
Diagnostic time is billed at the hourly rate, but it is applied toward the repair if you approve the work on the same visit.
Is there a minimum charge?+
One hour during business hours, two hours after-hours. Travel inside our core coverage area is not billed separately.
